What is Eid [What does Eid al Fitr mean]
Eid al Fitr is a festival that is celebrated among Muslims all over the world. It shows the end of the
Ramadan and the beginning of the next month. The day of Eid is a non-fast day. That is Islam
encourages to take food and prohibits fast.
Eid al Fitr is commonly called Eid (shortened form).
During the day of Eid, Muslims make good meals and are dressed new to go to the mosque where
they meet up with people and wish “Eid Mubarak”. Eid al Fitr has a particular prayer(salat) which
is performed in the Mosque. It brings all Muslims together before one god.
It is the day of helping poor Muslims who are financially backward to celebrate the day. The religion
encourages Muslims to give zakat( includes food items, grains, barley, etc) to poor Muslims through
which the day of Eid becomes equally happier and joyful to every Muslim regardless of the poor and
rich.
The day of eid is especially looking for the reunion of family members and longlasting the
relationships with friends and families. There is a tradition of sharing gifts between the family
members to enhance the love and bond between them.
There are two types of Eid, the Eid al Fitr and Eid Al Adha. Eid al Fitr shows the ending of the
month Ramadan and the beginning of the month"Shawwal". Eid al Fitr is different from Eid al Adha.

EID MUBARAK - A FAMILY STORY*
It was an early morning, mother was calling me again and again.‘wake up Raheem wakeup “. I was in
a deep sleep but unconsciously, I replied to her “hmmm... yes motherr”, but she already knew that
I am not gonna wake up until she wakes me up. she called me again and again and told me to wake-
up early or else father will scold you. Hearing the word "father", I get up at the moment.
My father is a nice man, everybody respects him and he is a well-known person in society, but
I was a bit scared of him because he was sometimes strict in some matters. Usually, he would
wake up early and perform Salat. He spends his whole days, working all time and moreover, he was
not a lazy man...but what about me…… I was lazy to wake up, super lazy to brush my teeth and
etc....
And coming to today's specialty. Today was so cold. I could hear the chirping of small birds from
everywhere. Sometimes I felt it as irritating, though today I felt some calmness in my heart and
today, I did not bother the chirping.
I went to take wudu (ablution) after brushing my teeth and washing my face, and I felt that the water
was so cold.
After doing my Subuh prayer, I read the Quran and all went well……………….
As you know today was a special day before going to the mosque for the special prayer in the Eid we
always take a bath. And of course, I hate baths, especially during the early morning. Thinking of
taking a bath in the early morning gave me a shivering feeling.
.
On the way to the bathroom, I saw my 5-year-old little sister. She was so excited to remove her
Mehandi, that she had put yesterday. I laughed when I heard her story about how carefully she took
care of Mehandi in order to not spread in the bed during sleep.
She loves Mehandi and she thinks that the Mehandi would become redder and redder as long as you
keep it your hand.
Children are always innocent. but fortunately, my mother did not scold her for keeping Mehandi
in her hand and sleeping in the bed with it.
Mother and elder sister were so busy in the kitchen, they were busy making breakfast and preparing
the biriyani masala for noon.
My mother loved cooking and experimenting with various dishes, but my sister was not a kitchen
lover. She always spends her time reading something and moreover, she was the topper of her class.
My father was so cool today, he already had ironed my new dress, yes it was so surprising to me, but
today I could see him very happy and caring.
After dressing up, I sprayed my new spray bottle which was my favorite.
Finally, we went to the mosque and it was so crowded. I saw my father, was hugging everybody and
he was so delightful. I began to chat with friends and wished" Eid Mubarak". At the same time, I
noticed my father and I was so curious to see him know how he engages with everyone.
After the special prayer of Eid, we returned to our home. I walked into my room as I always do, I
took my phone and began to chat. unexpectedly my father came to my room and he saw me with my
phone. He was not so happy to see me with my phone today, though he did not say anything and
called me for breakfast.
After finishing breakfast, we sat in the Varanda and began some cool chat. I was mostly a listener
and I was not much interested to chat then because I was waiting for my cousins.
Mother and father were talking about the zakat, We had already distributed it and my mother was so
happy as she completed the distribution. The chat was going well, but I was tired of expecting my
cousins.
we were planned for a day trip, but I was still waiting for them.....! Finally… they arrived, they were
actually one hour late, but after seeing them, I lost my angriness. I was super happy to see them...... I
said bye to everyone and I took my phone,
…… I could see that my little sister was looking at me, she always wanted to come with me.
I smiled at her and put my hand on her head, and I said to her that " evening". She was
very happy to hear that and smiled at me. (end)...............
